CAMPAIGNS
LDYS London aims to raise awareness of LDYS and Lib Dem campaigns
among young people, students and key decision-makers
in schools, universities, local councils, the GLA and Parliament.
Current Lib Dem and LDYS campaigns are:
Stop homophobic bullying
The Lib Dems are campaigning against homophobic bullying in
schools, which can have devastating consequences for its victims.

Scrap tuition fees and top-up fees
Tuition fees have widened the gap between social classes, worsened
the problems of student debt and they haven't raised more money
for universities - the government has just cut back funds instead.
Top-up fees make education based on ability to pay rather than
ability to learn. The Lib Dems have scrapped fees in Scotland
- let's get them scrapped in England too. Click here for details
of the campaign.
No2ID
The Lib Dems believe that Labour's plan to introduce ID cards
is intrusive, ineffective and expensive. The scheme will cost
somewhere between £6bn and £18bn. We propose spending
this on 10,000 extra police officers instead. Read more about
the campaign here.
Votes at 16
LDYS supports the campaign to lower the voting age to 16 in
all public elections. We believe that if young people are fully
engaged in our democracy at an early age, they are more likely
to stay involved when they're older. The campaign has its own
website here.
United 4 Belarus
As liberals, we believe that human rights don't stop
at our own borders. That's why LDYS International Committee
are leading the campaign against Europe's last dictatorship
- that of Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus. The campaign has its own
website here.
