OUR PEOPLE

LDYS London includes young people from teenagers to young professionals, from all backgrounds and from all over London. We have between 500 and 1000 registered members, providing a massive social and political network for you to get involved in.

Executive committee

LDYS London is run by young Londoners, for young Londoners. At LDYS we're very proud of how much freedom the Lib Dems give us to speak our own minds and run our own affairs. You won't find the same level of autonomy or democracy in any other major youth party.

We are run by three central teams, focusing on campaigning, social events and recruitment, and we encourage members to get in touch with our informal network of local contacts.

	Chair Ben Mathis, The Chair is elected by all members to run LDYS London, including building and maintaining relationships with local branches and other Lib Dems in the region, co-ordinating the work of the central executive teams, and acting as the spokesperson for the region. Ben spent much of his life touring the least exciting towns in Britain, but somehow picked up three European languages on the way, and has now settled in London.
	Treasurer Dan Snowdon, The Treasurer ensures that LDYS London is spending within its funds, looks after the bank account, keeps a record of income and expenses, and raises finance for projects. Dan is a former sabbatical officer of ULU (University of London Union) and is active in his local Lib Dem branch in Sutton borough.
	Head of Events Chamali Fernando, The Events Team is responsible for organising speaker and social events at a London-wide level, and assisting in the promotion of local social events. Chamali studied at UCL, and is a barrister (Middle Temple 2002).
	Head of Recruitment tbc, The Recruitment Team focuses on increasing our membership, both student and non-student, and retaining members.
	Head of Campaigns tbc, The Campaigns Team runs issue-based and party political campaigns, in co-ordination with local groups, LDYS and the Lib Dem London Region.
